We are Morgan’s Hope Hearts and I am Bridgette. My daughter, Morgan, is the inspiration behind this all - on behalf of my Dad, her Papa, who gave us the meaning. A quick overview in a complex, emotional yet inspiring story - my daughter, Morgan was diagnosed with Peripheral T cell lymphoma in December of 2018. At this time; our lives, of course were already flipped upside down. In August of 2018, my Father and Morgan’s Papa, was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, bone cancer. While my Dad, Jeff, was in treatment he continued seeing a heart pillow and one day, finally, got it for Morgan. He gave it to her when he couldn’t be with us at the hospital during her initial stay, so he wanted her to have this heart and for her to know he was always with her. They would do heart bumps with it, and she has slept with it every night since. It has been her comfort through countless surgeries, pokes, scans, hospital stays, the hardest times and also all of the great milestones on this cancer journey.
As a Mother, anything that brings comfort to your child during something traumatic is special. To have this heart be given to Morgan, who is now almost 2 years post bone marrow transplant (July 2019) and cancer free, from my Father, who passed away March 2019 - was a significant part of our journey. We knew we wanted to be able to give back in some way - by honoring my Father and all who have been affected by cancer.
We have made our own version of a heart pillow and we hope to be able to share these to bring comfort to others. Some of the most important people in my life have been affected by cancer and we want to help bring a reminder of Hope to others in a time when it is needed the most, from experience.
